We wanted to make this blog so glitter users understand that using glycerin in a pressed glitter formula is not OK and to be aware of what may happen if you do so. There are many DIY Pressed glitter videos going around using glycerin, aloe and alcohol but please stay away from them. If you do decide to use a DIY please add some type of preservative and toss away after a month.
Lets start here:
What is Glycerin and Aloe Vera?
Glycerin is knows as a humectant, it draws moisture from the air or other things. It is often used in soaps and lotions to improve smoothness and give the moisturized feel.
Aloe Vera is also the same thing. It is also considered a humectant .
When you mix glycerin + aloe (that attracts moisture to them) + a tin pan = one rusty pan and also a breeding ground for bacteria. That is no good for any cosmetic use. While they may not "Mold" they will differently not be a sanitary thing to put on your face especially around the eye.
There are quite a few places that offer safe pressed glitters at an affordable price. Alyse Marie Cosmetics being one of them. Just make sure you do your research and check the ingredient list fully!
